Structural solutions for slopes that need to stay put.

Retaining walls are the right tool when slopes need to be held, terraced, or structurally stabilized. We design and build walls using natural stone, boulders, and engineered block — selecting materials and designs that match your site's aesthetic and structural requirements. All wall installations include drainage provisions to prevent hydrostatic buildup.

Our Process

01

Structural Assessment

We assess slope conditions, soil type, drainage patterns, and loading conditions to design an appropriate wall system.

02

Wall Design

We select materials and develop a wall design that meets structural requirements while fitting the site's aesthetic.

03

Excavation & Foundation

We excavate to below the frost line, install a compacted gravel base, and set the first course at or below grade.

04

Wall Construction

Courses are set with appropriate batter (backward lean) and geogrid reinforcement for taller walls per engineering requirements.

05

Drainage & Backfill

Drainage aggregate and pipe are installed behind the wall, and backfill is compacted in lifts to prevent settlement.

Common Questions

Walls over 4 feet typically require an engineered design and may require permits. We work with structural engineers on taller walls and can manage the permitting process.

We work with natural dry-stacked stone, boulders, and segmental retaining wall block. We recommend natural stone for most rural and residential settings for its longevity and aesthetic.

Without drainage, hydrostatic pressure builds up behind the wall and can cause it to fail — even a well-built wall. We always install drainage aggregate and perforated pipe as part of our standard installation.
